This year’s newbie, the 6.2-liter V8 Hellcat-powered Charger Redeye is certainly a monster of a sedan. While the “regular” Charger SRT Hellcat gets 10 more ponies this year now putting out 717 horsepower, its Redeye variant adds 80 hp on top of that. This way, the new model churns out a prodigious 797 horses and 707 pound-feet of torque. That impressive gain comes courtesy of a number of changes to engine parts - most notably, a bigger supercharger and an additional fuel pump sourced from the defunct Dodge Challenger SRT Demon. The V8 also benefits from a revised valvetrain, stronger pistons & conrods, and better oiling. The intake has been redesigned, while the performance hood serves double duty as an aesthetic upgrade and an airflow enhancer. The Redeye drag machine can attain a max speed of 203 mph and run a 10.6-second quarter mile at 129 mph. This model is offered solely in widebody configuration, with flared fenders covering a fat wheel and tire combo.

For those who don’t need as much power, there is a whole range of respectable powerplants available for the 2021 Charger. And while a V8 is a sure choice for purists, the base V6 doesn’t disappoint. It produces 292 hp or 300 hp and is the sole engine option to team with available all-wheel drive. The V8 lineup includes a 5.7-liter 370-hp mill found under the hood of the R/T, a 6.4-liter engine that makes 485 hp in the Scat Pack, and the aforementioned supercharged Hellcat. Sadly, there’s no manual transmission available for the Charger, with an 8-speed automatic being the only choice.

More updates? Aside from a stunning Gold Rush body color that is now available on more models, there is a new anti-theft feature added to V8-equipped trim levels. As some of the most frequent targets of carjackers and joyriders, they get a special security mode that requires the driver to input a 4-digit code to unlock the car's normal performance. Otherwise, the engine won't make more than 3 hp letting the Charger move no faster than idle speed. The new feature comes as a free update.
