It’s not often that a supercar undergoes extensive updates before the planned end of its production run, but that’s exactly what the Ford GT gets for the 2020 model year. Unveiled at the Chicago Auto Show, the Blue Oval’s halo car stunned the public with a power boost and new appearance packages. The 2020 GT sports an increase of 13 horsepower over the outgoing model and a broader torque curve. Motivation comes from a 3.5-liter twin-turbo Ecoboost V6, now capable of 660 hp. The power bump comes courtesy of higher-performance ignition coils, engine recalibration, and improved cooling parts. There are gallery-cooled pistons and bigger intercoolers, while the engine now gets 50 percent more airflow thanks to revised buttress air ducts. Upgrades do not end here as the 2020 GT received a stiffer suspension tuning for sharper handling in the track mode. A lightweight, racy-sounding Akrapovic titanium exhaust is made standard. As before, a 7-speed dual-clutch rear transaxle routes the power of the mid-mounted engine to the rear wheels.
Striving to reduce performance-robbing mass, the experts at Ford gave the GT the Liquid Carbon treatment. There is no paint job – the supercar’s carbon fiber body parts are finished in a clear topcoat exposing a beautiful weave. Carbon fiber wheels are part of the package, and buyers can further upgrade their car with accessories that include titanium lug nuts and a 6-point racing harness. Several interior colors and brake caliper options are available for customers to pick from. Another limited-production option is the Heritage Edition that pays tribute to a series of wins at Le Mans. Its updated blue-and-orange Gulf Racing livery is now more in line with that of the original GT40 track car. Even a hypercar that seems to be perfect leaves some room for customization. We have 2020 Ford GT accessories and parts to make your dream car even more striking to drive and to look at.
The cockpit of the GT makes it clear that it’s a specifically-built track weapon. The bare-bones interior is focused on the driver who sits in a fixed, non-adjustable racing seat. Instead, the pedals and the steering wheel that houses almost all controls can adjust for the driver to have ultimate control over the car. The interior isn’t devoid of the Sync 3 infotainment system, though, whose functions (including navigation) can be controlled via a 6.5-inch touchscreen and voice commands. The fully-fledged race car like Ford’s mid-engine GT should be minimalist. However, if there are any accessories that you want to add, or you want to make it even faster and more responsive, our selection of 2020 Ford GT parts or accessories sourced from top brands may come in useful.
Want to make your 2020 Ford GT one of a kind, keep it running at its peak, or turn it into a high-powered beast? Our vast selection of premium accessories and parts ticks all the boxes. Quality is at the heart of everything we do at CARiD, so whatever your project, our brand name products and qualified experts will ensure success. Class. Luxury. Durability.
