Nissan introduced the new generation of the Altima mid-size family sedan for 2019. Adopting the styling cues of the larger Maxima sedan and Murano SUV, the new model is more attractive than the fifth-gen version. Besides, the new Altima is one of the first vehicles by Nissan to be inspired by the Vmotion 2.0 concept borrowing a floating fastback roof from the latter. It has a longer, lower and wider shape and a sculpted body that accentuates the visual sportiness of the model. There is a pair of creases on the sides of the vehicle – one starts near the handle of the front door, curves over the rear door handle and arcs into the tail lights. The 2019 Nissan Altima uses the FWD-based D platform, the same that is utilized by the Murano, Pathfinder, Maxima and numerous vehicles by Infiniti and Renault. Powertrain options are not very different from the preceding generation – a 2.5 L I4 is the base engine and 3.5 L V6 is available as an option, both units are mated to a CVT. However, there is a notable novelty – the new Altima can be optionally fitted with AWD. The interior of the car offers more space now thanks to the longer wheelbase. For the first time for a vehicle by Nissan, the 2019 Altima features a tablet-style infotainment display. It uses the latest version of the corporate infotainment system and offers smartphone compatibility and ProPilot semi-autonomous driving system. There is a pair of physical knobs inside, for tuning and volume, and a range of buttons placed above center vents and under the display. The interior of the 2019 Nissan Altima also features a new steering wheel similar to the one of the Rogue, metal trim, upgraded materials, contrast stitching, push-button ignition, and two USB ports.

Nissan announced that for 2019 the company would offer the limited Edition One of the Nissan Altima powered by the new VC-Turbo engine. This variable compression ratio four-cylinder powerplant produces 248 hp. Besides a premium sound system by Bose, the new Edition One model received some visual upgrades, including a rear spoiler, sunroof, unique badging, dark gray alloy rims of 19-inch diameter, illuminated door sills, and external ground lighting. For the first three years of ownership, the driver can use the service of the Nissan Concierge free of charge. This assistant can help make hotel and dinner reservations or order tickets.
