The Ford Edge underwent a mid-cycle refresh for the 2019 model year and now offers the new line-topping ST grade instead of the Sport. Developed together with the Ford Performance team, the new trim uses an upgraded 2.7 L twin-turbo V6 good for 335 hp that is mated to a new 8-speed automatic. The eight-speeder features rev-matching technology that works together with paddle shifters. The model also employs a specifically-tuned suspension that delivers improved handling and sharper responses and comes with AWD as standard. The 2019 Edge ST features a Sport mode that adjusts shift programming, improves engine braking, tightens throttle response, and makes exhaust sound a bit louder. It can be activated by a center button located on the console-mounted rotary shifter. Inside, the model features ST logos on seat backs, scuff plates and steering wheel and black-leather seats with silver stitching and suede inserts that deliver improved lateral support. On the outside, the vehicle comes with a wide mesh grille, 20” wheels, deep side skirts, and dual exhaust tips. 21” wheels, special blue paint and performance braking system with red calipers and 13.6” rear rotors are offered optionally. The 2019 Edge is available with the all-new Titanium Elite appearance package that adds a more luxurious, high-end touch with 20-inchers, body-color exterior trim, and premium rear skid plate.

Other trim levels of the 2019 Ford Edge come with an updated version of a 2.0 L turbo I4 that is now capable of generating 250 hp. It is directed through the same transmission as the power unit of the ST grade. The FWD layout is standard and AWD is offered optionally. An important addition to the model lineup, including the new ST, is the AWD disconnect system first employed on a Ford vehicle. The system utilizes a net of sensors that constantly monitor road and weather conditions as well as sense wheel slip to automatically decouple the rear axle, which is promised to save fuel. Non-ST variants of the new Edge come with a redesigned hood providing a “layering” effect and 4 chrome grille bars that make the vehicle visually wider. The model now comes with full-LED lights and C-shaped DRLs that extend down to fog lights. Tail lights were redesigned and became more taut and there is a new horizontal chrome accent above them. Inside, all versions of the 2019 Ford Edge come with a new transmission e-shifter and wireless charging port placed on the center console. The vehicle also offers FordPass WiFi capability that enables you to connect up to 10 devices within a 50-ft range, access to the Alexa assistant right from your center display and FordPass App that allows you to control your crossover from any place through the smartphone.
