The second generation of the X4 by BMW entered the market for the 2019 model year. The vehicle now features wider tracks, lower center of gravity, sportier proportions, and improved aerodynamics. It is longer, lower, and a bit wider than the previous generation. The front end features a well-known kidney grille with the new 3-dimensional look and twin headlights that together with horizontal fog lights integrated into the outer air intakes create a recognized six-eyed “face”. The 2019 BMW X4 employs standard full-LED lighting. Just like its predecessor, the new model comes with a coupe-style roofline that elegantly slides into the rear window. In the rear, slim 3-dimensional tail lights together with twin exhaust pipes visually increase the rear end width. The X4 M variant received a reworked grille, a front bumper with bigger air inlets, and quad exhaust.

The 2019 BMW X4 offers a pair of potent engines. The base one is a 2.0 L turbo I4 that delivers 248 hp; a 3.0 L turbo I6 good for 355 hp is available optionally. Both engines ensure excellent acceleration – the base one propels the vehicle to 60 mph in 6.0 seconds, while the I6 does the same in 4.6 seconds. The X4 comes with standard all-wheel drive and 8-speed automatic. The latter offers manual gear selection via shift paddles located on the steering wheel and exceptionally fast gear changes. The model also comes with Driving Experience Control switch that offers three selectable setups. M40i and xDrive30i variants also add the fourth setup named Sport+.

The interior of the 2019 BMW X4 is more spacious than the interior of the predecessor, offering a 1-inch increase in rear-seat legroom and an additional cubic foot of cargo space. Thanks to the low placement of the instrument panel and a bit raised driver position, the vehicle provides excellent road view. The interior layout is focused on the driver, giving him or her a notable driving experience. The seats of the model were redesigned and now deliver superior lateral support even in tough situations. There is a large 10.25” touchscreen inside for infotainment, communication, and navigation functions; the new head-up display is offered as an option.
