The Lexus RX has been around since 1998 and has evolved from a compact to a mid-size luxury SUV over the years. Its forth generation went on sale in 2015 as a 2016 model. The 2018 Lexus RX L is underpinned by the same K platform as the regular RX. It can’t exactly be considered a long-wheelbase version, as the RX L’s wheelbase measures the same 107.9 inches as that of the two-row model. Instead, the rear overhang was extended to accommodate an additional row of seats. The Lexus RX L can’t be seen as an alternative to the full-size LX SUV, as tiny shoulder- and legroom in the third row will prevent adult passengers from comfortably using it, especially when going on a long ride. The L version is represented by two trims, the RX 350L with a 295-horsepower 3.5-liter V6 engine and the RX 450hL that generates 308 horsepower as a total output of the Lexus Hybrid Drive. The regular 2018 Lexus RX 350 is powered by the same V6, with power fed to the front wheels through an eight-speed automatic gearbox. The F Sport trim gets optional all-wheel drive along with a tuned suspension for enhanced ride stability and response.
