The new standard engine for the 2018 Ford F-150 will be a 3.3-liter V6, claimed to provide the same horsepower and torque numbers as the previous 3.5L V6 it replaces (namely, 282 hp and 253 lb-ft). Paired with a new base engine is a six-speed automatic transmission. The next in the lineup is an improved 2.7L EcoBoost, now featuring advanced port and direct injection systems and new technologies ensuring reduced friction and greater robustness. It is also rated at 20/26 mpg, providing class-dominating fuel economy. Two more options are available, a 3.5L EcoBoost engine and the biggest 5.0L Ti-VCT V8. Models equipped with the former have the highest in the segment towing capacity of 13,200 lb, while the latter provides best-in-class payload of 3,270 lb. The refreshed lineup of powerplants gives the 2018 F-150 the best pulling power ever. Towing is made even simpler with the Dynamic Hitch Assist as standard technology, intended to easily connect the trailer.

Power and function of the Ford F-150 have been taken to a whole new level with the introduction of a purpose-built Shelby version of the 2018 Raptor. This off-road beast provides an increase of 75 horsepower and 100 lb-ft of twist over the regular Raptor. As a result, the 2018 Shelby Raptor puts 525 horses and 610 lb-ft at the driver's disposal. In addition to an increase in power, Shelby reworked the vehicle's suspension with 2-stage adjustable shocks and added a set of bigger wheels and a few tweaks like light bars and red interior accents. Trucks equipped with this package are available in an amount limited to only 500 units.

Three years after the first introduction of the F-150 truck with a segment-exclusive aluminum body, Ford carries on with the 2018 year model, which features a strong military-grade skin made using advanced aluminum alloys for weight savings, greater capabilities, and corrosion protection. Adorning its tough aluminum body are a new muscular grille, headlights, bumpers, and a sculpted tailgate, which create a bold look and planted stance.
