Compared to the previous setup, the new system is more powerful and compact, allowing for generous trunk space and maintaining folding rear seats. In addition, V6 powered cars with front-wheel drive received a new 9-speed automatic instead of a previous 8-speed auto for enhanced shifting. All-wheel drive, which was offered solely on the top-of-the-line Premium trim, is now available for those who want to get their hands on the mid-level LaCrosse Essence. Externally, there are no changes except for the availability of three new colors, including two metallic gray shades and one red color.

Buick will offer the LaCrosse Avenir in both FWD and AWD configurations, exclusively powered by GM’s 3.6L V6 paired with a 9-speed automatic transmission.
