The Frontier by Nissan enters 2017 essentially unchanged, offering only a small range of minor updates. Even though the model was launched back in 2005, it still has solid popularity on the market thanks to its outstanding reliability, decent power, and off-road capability. For 2017, the truck adds a body-colored rear bumper instead of a chrome one and the new Work Truck package. Available on the S grade, the package adds splash guards, bed-rail caps, rubber floor mats, and spray-in bedliner. The Frontier utilizes a pair of engines – a 2.5 L I4 good for 152 hp and a 4.0 L V6 that develops 261 hp. The base engine comes with a 5-speed manual as standard, while the V6 is directed through a 6-speed one. A 5-speed automatic is offered optionally in both cases. Potent powertrains enable the truck to provide the remarkable towing capacity of up to 6,710 lb. All versions use a fully boxed ladder frame and heavy-duty suspension. Performance gas shock absorbers by Bilstein tuned for off-roading are available.

The 2017 Nissan Frontier offers a range of different configurations, including King and Crew cabs, 5-ft and 6.1-ft beds, and 5 trims. Both beds are fitted with cargo bed light, locking tailgate, and can be optionally fitted with the Utili-track channel system. The base S grade of the Frontier comes with a King cab, manual gearbox, 2WD, 15” steel wheels, and front bucket seats with cloth upholstery and 4-way manual adjustment. The models with an automatic transmission also feature cruise control, Bluetooth, air conditioning, 4-speaker audio system, and steering-wheel audio controls. These features can be had on manual-equipped Frontiers too, as part of the Preferred package. If you opt for the available V6 on the S trim, you’ll also get a sliding rear window, 6-speaker audio system, and 16” steel wheels. The corporate 5” infotainment system offering smartphone integration and Bluetooth audio connectivity is standard on the SV trim and higher.
