It received a longer platform and wheelbase that allowed for more passenger room and cargo space. The 2017 Sportage utilizes two robust power units – a 2.4 L I4 delivering 181 hp (EX and SX grades) and a turbocharged 2.0 L I4 producing 240 (SX Turbo only). They both are paired with a 6-speed automatic. Front-wheel drive is a standard layout, while all trims can be had with all-wheel drive.

The exterior of the 2017 Kia Sportage offers a combination of sharp creases and smooth lines formed by new body panels. The headlights are placed higher now, sweeping back along the edges of the hood, and a well-known “tiger-nose” grille is located vertically in the front fascia. A front clip was enlarged to deliver better engine cooling, while also adding visual volume to the lower half of the model’s front fascia to make it more aggressive. Bolder wheel arches along with a longer spoiler give the 2017 Sportage a more dynamic look. The model also retained its signature design elements – pushed to the corners wheels and short overhangs.

A simple and modern interior of the new Sportage features clean horizontal lines that emphasize its roominess. The model provides increased room both in front and rear, including more than 39 inches of rear headroom. Cargo space was increased as well (up to 30.7 cu. ft.) thanks to a wider luggage area and dual-level cargo floor. The license plate is now located on the tailgate, resulting in lowered lift-over height for easier loading and unloading. These processes may become even easier with a Smart Power Liftgate – it opens automatically when your key fob is within 3 feet of your crossover. The new Sportage offers enhanced comfort with such options as ventilated front seats, 8-way power control for the front passenger seat, and many others.
