The second generation of the Ford Fusion, which is offered in Europe under the Mondeo name, debuted at the 2012 North American International Auto Show. Over the following four years, this vehicle has achieved considerable success that substantially strengthened Ford’s positions on the North American mid-size car market. Even though the given market segment is full of models coming from all over the world, the Fusion has managed to achieve a yearly sales figure of over 300,000 units. And the refreshed 2017 Ford Fusion is expected to make that figure even more impressive.

As part of a mid-cycle update of one of its top sellers, Ford Motor Company added two extra trim levels. The first one is unambiguously called the Sport. Apart from a black mesh grille, 19-inch alloy wheels, a decklid spoiler, quad exhaust tips, and a few other exterior tweaks, the Sport has also obtained what the Fusion lineup hasn’t seen since 2013 – a V6 engine. And that’s not just an ordinary V6; it is a twin-turbocharged and intercooled DOHC 24-valve 2694 cc engine with direct fuel injection and the output rated at 325 hp and 380 lb-ft of torque. The Sport utilizes a 6-speed automatic transmission distributing torque among all four wheels.

The second addition is called the Platinum, which made the Fusion line closer to its rebranded twin, the Lincoln MKZ, by adding a load of standard equipment and some luxury points (power sunroof, Nappa leather upholstery, heated and cooled front seats, Sync 3 infotainment system, and more). While the Sport excites with what it has under the hood, the Platinum strikes with its interior. Besides a substantially widened list of goodies, the 2017 model also offers a bunch of ergonomic improvements that transform the Fusion’s cockpit into a very nice place to be.

A Bit Steep On The Price
Lloyd® - Ultimat™ Custom Fit Floor Mats
They do look great. However, considering the price, I won't be purchasing the rear set. The back doesn’t need as much flair and I believe I can find a more budget-friendly option that will work just as well. All in all, the mats are excellent, but it’s a bit too pricey to have them all around.
