All trim levels except for the base one are eligible for the enhanced, 153-horsepower version of the base engine. Both engines come with a six-speed automatic transmission and front-wheel drive, while all-wheel drive is optional. The 2017 Buick Encore’s fuel economy is rated at 28 mpg combined for the front-wheel drive model equipped with a base engine. The all-wheel drive configuration gets a 2-mpg penalty and offers 26 mpg combined.
