For 2005, the eleventh generation of the Ford F-150 received the first portion of significant updates. The truck now uses a new standard powertrain – a 4.2 L Essex V6 with 202 hp directed through a 5-speed manual. Before, this powertrain was available exclusively on fleet vehicles. Two more potent engines are offered as well - a 4.6 L V8 making 231 hp and 5.4 L V8 that delivers 300 hp. Both V8s are mated to a 4-speed automatic and employ electronic throttle control that monitors certain functions of the powertrain and makes adjustments, improving performance and efficiency. The new F-150 delivers maximal payload capacity of 3,020 lb and its towing capacity tops out at 9,900 lb (when properly equipped). Fuel efficiency is notable too – the truck returns up to 21 mpg highway.

The frame that the 2005 Ford F-150 is built around contributes to its car-like driving performance. Thanks to lots of improvements and new components that the new generation of the truck received for the previous model year, it rides with comfort, corners fairly flat and brakes without excessive nose diving. This pickup responds to your steering inputs instantly and is quite agile. All versions of the 2005 Ford F-150 come with four-wheel anti-lock brakes as standard. 2WD models powered by V8 engines can be fitted with optional traction control. The vehicle earned the highest 5-star rating from NHTSA in frontal impact testing and the highest rating (Good) in offset-frontal crash testing by IIHS.

The 2005 F-150 provides a broad line of models, offering three body styles, three bed lengths, and five trim grades. Regular and extended-cab versions feature reverse-opening rear doors that ensure easier access to the cab. For 2005, automatic headlights are offered as an option. Besides, there are two new packages available, the King Ranch Group featuring exclusive exterior and interior trim and Work Truck Group that comes with the vinyl bench seat and argent bumpers. The base version of the F-150 is named the XL, it features a cloth or vinyl interior and minimal amenities. The line-topping Lariat grade offers a wide range of amenities such as wood and brushed aluminum interior highlights, trip computer, automatic climate control, and leather seats.

2005 Ford F-150 Accessories Reviews

I ordered a cargo mat for a 2005 Jeep Liberty Renegade. I read the reviews and watched the promotional videos. Those lead me to purchase the Llyod Mat over any of the others. I had high expectations and I was somewhat let down once I received the mat. If you're in a hurry, give yourself time, the mat took about two weeks to deliver. Overall the mat is pretty good. I like that it's somewhat thin and flexible, which made it easy to roll out. The look is great and I came as close as I could to color matching my carpet interior. The part that disappointed me was the fit. I was expecting the mat to extend over the entire carpet from side to side. Unfortunately, the mat is cut short and uneven in places. There is about a half-inch gap around the sides and the portion near the trunk lid is not cut evenly. Since the mat is cut to order, there is no return. Minus the gaps from the sides, I do like the mat. It keeps all the things I store in my cargo area in place and it looks good. My only worry is when I carry liquids and if they spill. Check out the photos and video and you decided. I'm sure experiences will vary.
