The Pagani Huayra was the first completely new model of the automaker since 1999, when the Zonda was introduced. While the car had a similar silhouette to that of the Pagani Zonda, it was completely different technologically and on its approach. After over eight years of development, the Huayra officially debuted in 2011. The car is named after the Incan god of wind and is made up of more than 4,000 components (excluding the engine and gearbox). Built using less components than the original coupe, the BC is not only the most powerful coupe version, but also the most exclusive. In addition to an upgraded V12 engine producing about 740 HP, the Pagani Huayra BC features revised aerodynamics, a new transmission, as well as a race-inspired interior. Thanks to utilizing carbon triax, a new material that is claimed to be 50% lighter, yet about 20% stronger compared to regular carbon fiber, the dry weight of the BC has been reduced by 132 kg (291 lb). The model also features new aluminum alloy wheels and a lighter titanium exhaust system. In 2017, the automaker released the Huayra Roadster, a drop-top with bespoke chassis and features. For this model, the engine is tuned to provide more than 750 HP. The appearance of the car has also been changed. In addition to its removable top, the car has new eyelid-like fixed flaps in the rear. It also boasts unique wheels and conventional doors, instead of the gull-wing ones on the coupe.
