In 1954, Bilstein® was the first to realize the potential offered by an idea of Prof. Bourcier de Carbon, a French researcher in the field of vibrations. The aim was to eliminate the physical disadvantages of the conventional telescopic shock absorbers, whilst at the same time making the dampers lighter and able to be fitted in any position. The name Bilstein has for many decades been closely associated with high tech in the field of suspension design, driving comfort and safety. In order to expand this position in the future, Bilstein became a division of ThyssenKrupp Technologies AG in 1988, and a wholly-owned subsidiary in 2005. The partnership and co-operation within the group will enable the company to continue to inspire with innovations in the traditional Bilstein way.

Replaced OEM Shocks for a 997 Turbo
Bilstein® 49-135985 - 0.6"-1.4" x 0.6"-1.4" B16 Series DampTronic™ Front and Rear Lowering Coilover Kit
My 997 Turbo with OEM PASM suspension hit 100k miles and needed new shocks. Bought these Bilstein sport damptronics as a replacement and upgrade for combined street light track use. Since PASM drops the car 10mm versus stock from the factory these lowered the car another 12mm, so roughly an inch versus a stock 997. Ride is firm but not jarring and the suspension absorbs small road bumps better now than it did with the OEM shocks. I suspect 100k miles of wear had a lot to do with that. The sport button makes the ride stiff and will be great from track use but not useful on street. The car looks much better now that it is lowered and there is still about half threaded length to adjust up or down. These are a great replacement for OEM shocks and since the shocks are matched to the springs they are better than just using lowering springs on OEM shocks.
