The 2023 EQS is available in rear- and all-wheel-drive layouts. The entry-level EQS450+ sedan has a single rear-mounted 329-hp motor, while the SUV is equipped with its 355-hp version. The sport ute seats five in its standard form but can be had in a seven-seat configuration. To provide easier access to the third row, the 2nd-row seating slides forward and the backrest inclines. With all seats up, there are between 23 and 31 cu. ft. of cargo space in the five-seater and 7 cubes in the three-row EQS.

The EQS53 AMG+, a high-performance version of the flagship sedan, is the AMG division’s first attempt at modding an electric vehicle. Its dual-motor powertrain makes 649 hp and 700 lb-ft of torque, rocketing the car to 62 mph in 3.8 seconds and attaining a top speed of 137 mph. The AMG Dynamic Plus package unlocks a maximum power output of 751 hp and 752 lb-ft upon activating the Boost function. In this mode, the car can reach 62 mph in 3.4 seconds and accelerate up to a governed top speed of 155 mph. The AMG-tuned AWD is rear-biased, and a variety of suspension, driveline, and chassis parts have been upgraded for better power delivery and traction, including dampers, sway bars, bearings, rear axle parts, and the subframe.
