Jaguar first delivered its XE-Type sports sedan to the U.S. in 2016, two years after its official global debut. The British automaker's smallest car is sophisticated enough to compete with well-established models such as the Audi A4, Merc's C-Class, and the 3-Series by BMW, but their recent facelifts made Jaguar refresh the XE for 2020 to keep it afloat. It is the first major update since the model's release, which brought exterior and interior tweaks, added tech, powertrain changes, and simplified lineup. Considered to be in a class of its own in the flood of look-alike entry-level luxury sedans, the new XE gets more mature. You can further set it apart by giving it a custom upgrade with the right 2020 Jaguar XE accessories and parts.
For starters, the previous model lineup which included 6 trim levels and 31 versions has shrunk to 2 trims (S and R-Dynamic). Last year's supercharged V6 and turbodiesel engines were ditched, so all models are powered by a sole 2.0-liter turbo inline-4 in two states of tune, dubbed P250 and P300. The former is installed in S models and puts out 247 hp, while P300-motivated R-Dynamic versions deliver 296 hp, enough to do a 0-60 mph run in 5.4 seconds versus the P250's 6.2 seconds. Both cars can attain a 120 mph max speed. A new Dynamic Handling pack adds 2020 Jaguar XE parts tuned for spirited driving, including adaptive dampers, performance brakes with bright-color calipers, configurable drive modes, and a trunk spoiler.
The new aesthetic visuals for the 2020 XE-Type improve the already sharp-looking exterior. There are redesigned bumpers front and rear, standard LED headlights with the distinctive J-shaped DRLs, and a wider grille with restyled mesh. At the rear, there are slim LED tail lights with a new graphic design. The sports sedan appears to be wider and more planted, endowed with a more assertive look. Even more changes come on the inside. The cabin is trimmed by soft-touch, higher-quality materials, like premium veneers and now-standard leather upholstery. There are more interior accessories borrowed from other Jaguar models, such as the I-Pace's steering wheel design and F-Type's electronic shifter, which replaces the previous rotary-style one. The redesigned door panels that now provide more storage space and softer, more ergonomic armrests complete the list of tweaked 2020 Jaguar XE accessories and parts in the cabin. Tech-wise, this model year saw serious additions like wireless phone charging first used on a Jaguar, a driver-attention monitor, and a digital rearview mirror. The standard equipment roster has been expanded with multiple new features which include parking sensors, power seats for the driver and front passenger, and lane keep assist.
The XE SV Project 8, the record-setting Jaguar car which proved to be the fastest four-door at the Nurburgring, received a Touring version for 2020. While having identical mechanicals under the metal, the Touring is not as quick as the original and lacks its distinctive feature – a big rear wing. Instead, it has a small lip spoiler. The Touring model is equipped with the same supercharged V8 good for 592 hp, but its top speed is electronically limited to 186 mph versus the regular Project 8’s 200 mph.
