The first-generation model comes with rear-wheel drive as standard and is available with all-wheel drive. The RWD Cadillac CT4-V as the entry-level performance sedan features reinforced parts in the active suspension system that is able to adjust its shock absorbers to compensate road irregularities on the fly. The AWD variant comes with ZF passive axle dampers. Both versions offer enhanced track capabilities and are fine-tuned to provide great comfort without sacrificing nimbleness and responsiveness. The V-Series sedan is equipped with a turbocharged 2.7-liter I4 capable of 325 hp and 380 lb-ft. It is paired with a Hydra-Matic transmission featuring 10 gears.

Those who don't need that much grunt can opt for any of the three models which sit below the high-performance trim. The base engine for the trio of cars is a 2.0-liter four good for 237 hp and 258 lb-ft of torque. Moving up brings a decidedly detuned version of the 2.7-liter four found in the CT4-V, which is rated at 309 hp and 348 lb-ft. There are no stick-equipped versions – only 8- or 10-speed automatic transmissions make use of engine power. Active Fuel Management and automatic stop/start help save fuel, while four drive modes alter vehicle settings (suspension, steering, transmission, etc.) for the best adaptation to driving conditions.

Even the base trim of the 2020 CT4 is well equipped, featuring keyless entry and ignition, premium audio, dual zone climate control, and a twin screen that provides information to the driver, among other perks. The dashboard of the 2020 Cadillac CT4-V features a unique instrument cluster that offers controls for advanced Cadillac’s Super Cruise system allowing for partially hands-free driving on limited-access highways in the U.S. and Canada.
