The Hyundai Azera made its first appearance on the American roadways for the 2006 model year. Previously, it had been known in other markets as the Hyundai Grandeur. Upon its stateside debut, the Azera was offered as a four-door sedan constructed in a front-engine, front-wheel drive layout. Considered a full-size, the Azera was designed with the luxurious accessories in order to compete with other entry-level models from Lexus and Infiniti. When it first premiered, the Azera was made available in two trim levels: SE and Limited. However, a year later the GLS trim level was added to the lineup and then in 2008, the trims were narrowed down to just the GLS and the Limited, which meant the SE was discontinued.
Initially, the primary engine was a 2.7L V6 good for around 200 horsepower. That configuration would eventually be updated to a base 3.3L Lambda V6 which produced up to 235 horsepower along with 226 pounds-per-foot of torque. The Hyundai Azera Limited received a bolder 3.8L V6 that throws out 263 horsepower and 257 pounds-per-foot of torque. Engines are mated to a five-speed automatic transmission and both trim levels are equipped with standard front-wheel drive. As for the model's dimensions, the first generation Hyundai Azera measures in with a wheelbase of 109.4 inches, a width of 72.8 inches (73.4 inches for 2009), a height of 58.7 inches (58.9 inches for 2009), and an overall length of 192.7 inches (193.3 inches for 2009).
Most of the updates to the Hyundai Azera parts came with the 2009 model year. The Azera GLS is stocked with many standard features and accessories including 17" wheels, dual zone automatic climate control, power front-seats, satellite radio with iPod/USB connectivity, and a six-speaker CD stereo system. Optional Hyundai Azera parts, such as a sunroof and heated leather seats, are also available for the GLS trim. The top-level Limited takes it a step further, as both the sunroof and heated leather-seats come as standard equipment while other amenities like power-adjustable pedals, driver-memory seats and buttons, Bluetooth capability, and a navigation system are included with the vehicle, as well. Although it has only been on the scene in the states for a brief period of time, the Hyundai Azera has received plenty of notice from the automotive media. The model was a finalist for Motor Trend magazine's Car of the Year (2006) and named an AutoPacific Vehicle Satisfaction Award winner (2006, 2007), a Best Car on the Thrifty 50 List by US News & World Report (2007), and an Edmunds.com Editor's Most Wanted Vehicle (2007).
The Hyundai Azera combines reliable performance and a luxurious essence in order to make its case as one of the most popular sedans in its class. Classy, confident, and boasting enough style to help it rise above the masses, the Hyundai Azera is also every bit the showpiece as it is mode of transportation. It is attributes like these why it has become so talked about. It is also why when it comes to Hyundai Azera accessories and parts, CARiD carries the very best.
