This configuration adds 113 pounds to the 2017 Mazda Miata MX-5 RF’s weight, but given that this car isn’t meant for autocross, the tradeoff is not critical.

The fourth-generation Miata debuted just last year, with substantial changes that made it even lighter, quicker, and more compact than its predecessor. So apart from the introduction of the Retractable Hardtop variant, there are no major updates to the 2017 Miata MX-5. The conventional lineup includes three different models - Sport, Club, and Grand Touring, while those who are going to buy the RF can choose from Club and Grand Touring options. It is powered by a torquey Skyactiv 2.0-liter I4 with 155 hp and 148 lb-ft directed through a fast-shifting 6-speed manual (standard) or automatic (optional) transmission.
