Charging Equipment Search Options
When selecting charging equipment, we make it easy to customize your search using check boxes. For a full understanding of plug types, amps, voltage, and other criteria, we recommend reading our related article referenced in the text below for clarification.

Before going any further, we encourage you to read our related article “EV Charging – What You Need To Know” – an easy-to-follow guide on EV electrical phraseology (watts, volts, and amps), varieties of outlets EVs are designed with, styles of electrical wall outlets, electrical consumption, EV efficiency, and the three universal standard charging rates – all of which affect overall charging speed.

1. Individual Adapters We Offer

Lectron J1772-To-Tesla Charging Adapter
The Lectron J1772-to-Tesla Charging Adapter.

We’ll start with adapters. For Tesla owners, the Lectron J1772 to Tesla Charging Adapter allows you to use non-Telsa chargers (Level 1 and 2) to charge a Tesla vehicle.  This includes Level 2 ChargePoint and other public charging stations which charge at 240V AC, 50-60Hz, 60A Max. Simply connect the adapter to the SAE J1772 charger, then connect to your Tesla vehicle.

The Lectron Tesla-to-J1772 Connector Adapter (available in white or black) allows a Level 2 Telsa charger to plug in to a J1772 non-Tesla vehicle.

The Lectron Tesla-to-J1772 Connector Adapter allows you to use any Tesla Level 1 or 2 charging cord on a J1772 non-Tesla EV. This is great if you have both a Tesla and a J1772 vehicle and you’ll have easier access to a Tesla level 2 charger at home or elsewhere. Note that this adapter is not compatible with level 3 Tesla supercharging stations.

All Lectron cords provide protection from electrical spikes and are designed to prevent vehicle battery overheating. An LED indicator shows charging progress and alerts you if faults that affect charging occur.

2. Chargers with Cords

If you own only a J1772 type EV (non-Tesla), the Lectron J1772 Electric Vehicle (EV) Charger (includes 21-foot cord) and the Schumacher 16 A/110-240 V NEMA 6-20P EV Charger (includes 28-foot cord) are designed to plug directly into your vehicle for charging. In our Product Options field, you can specify a NEMA 5-15 plug at the end for 120-volt charging using a standard household wall outlet, or choose from a variety of other plug styles designed for 240-volt Level 2 charging from heavy-duty outlets. For those that also own a Tesla, a J1772-to-Tesla adapter piece referenced in section 1 of this article will and allow you to charge any Tesla Model 3, Y, S, or X.

The adapter piece itself is also capable of handling level 2 charging from a 240-volt source. Also optional are 20- or 40-foot extension cords as well as a wall-mount holder bracket. For those owning both a J1772 and Tesla EV and use a Tesla level 2 wall charger as your main source, you’ll want to purchase the Tesla-to-J1772 Adapter piece as well.

Non-Tesla EV Plugged Into Tesla Charger
Many non-Tesla EVs typically have a J1772 style port, allowing them to plug directly into J1772 chargers commonly found at public charging stations.

3. Permanently Installed Charging Stations

Lectron 240V Level 2 EV Charging Station
Lectron 240V Level 2 Electric Vehicle (EV) Charging Stations are available for hookup to NEMA 14-50 outlets (far left) or 6-50 outlets (far right).

CARiD has you covered with permanently installed charging stations for level 2 charging of J1772 EVs designed to draw power from heavy-duty 240-volt outlets, or stations hardwired by a professional electrician. Any of these can be used to charge a Tesla, just select the J1772-to-Tesla adapter piece in Product Options.

For starters, we have the Lectron J1772 Electric Vehicle Charging Station that can be ordered in either 40-amp or 32-amp configuration with plugs designed for either NEMA 6-50 or 14-50 style outlets. The station can be ordered with an extension cord and wall-mounted cord holder if you like.

EvoCharge EVSE And IEVSE Wall Mount Charging Stations
The EvoCharge EVSE and iEVSE wall mount charging stations are available in a number of configurations.

If you prefer the tidiness of a retracting cord setup, there's the EvoCharge EVSE Wall Mount EV Charging Station, which is available with a pedestal and 25-foot retracting cord, or as a straightforward wall mount without retracting ability and an 18- or 25-foot cord.

For a little more, EvoCharge offers a WiFi version (the iEVSE Wall Mount EV Charging Station) that can connect to local utility companies and network providers to monitor charging. Because it’s also Open Charge Point Protocol (OCPP) compliant, you’re able to have control over the third-party network service provider that works for you, giving you better choices and access to charging capabilities that will save money.
