'Romeo' was added to the manufacturer's name after Nicola Romeo, a Neapolitan entrepreneur who was managing the company at the time. Alfa Romeo was acquired by the Fiat group in 1986, and was transformed into the present Alfa Romeo Automobiles S.p.A. for 2007.
