The new Golf GTI is still powered by a 2.0-liter turbo four-cylinder, but this time around, it makes 241 hp and 273 lb.-ft. of torque versus the outgoing model’s 228 hp and 258 lb.-ft. Like before, power is routed through a six-speed manual as standard, but buyers can choose to upgrade to a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic. In Europe, the performance version of the Golf is also available as a diesel-equipped 197-hp GTD and a PHEV GTE that puts out the same 241 horsepower.
