The BMW 4-Series enters its second generation with a number of styling changes, mechanical improvements, and the new M4. First introduced to the public as the 2014 model, the 4-Series was offered as both a coupe and convertible. Today, it is still available in those two body styles and two trims (the 430i and 440i). The M package also soldiers on with a sportier suspension, unique bodywork, and eye-catching accessories inside and out. The revised coupe hit the American market in two versions, namely the 430i and M440i. Both deliver exciting driving performance along with all 2021 styling changes. However, there is always room for upgrades. Today, with a huge variety of 2021 BMW 4-Series accessories and parts offered on the aftermarket, the sky is the limit when it comes to car customization. Whether you want to improve its appearance or performance, you will find the right products for your job.
Getting back to the new coupe offered by BMW, the most distinctive change is its new vertical grille with a mesh-type pattern that makes the model stand out from the 3-Series. Stepping up to the M440i, you will get Cerium Gray treatment on it. Up front, the car also sports reworked LED lights. They now look more aggressive. Those customers who want to get the wow effect can opt for laser lights that are offered as an option. The second-gen coupe is slightly larger than its predecessor. As a result, it offers more space for not only passengers but also their cargo.
There is plenty of legroom in the rear so even adults will feel comfortable on long trips. In general, the interior is virtually unchanged. Just like before, it is stylish and attractive. Those owners who want to give it their personal taste of style can go with 2021 BMW 4-Series parts and accessories from aftermarket manufacturers. Custom seat and steering wheel covers along with floor mats and many other parts are readily available in a huge variety on our digital shelves.
On the mechanical side of things, the 2021 coupe is available with a choice of two engines for the American market. The 430i is powered by a 2.0-liter four-cylinder unit force-fed by a turbocharger. It is capable of providing 255 horsepower. This model is rear-wheel drive, but xDrive AWD is also offered as an option. The M440i is more powerful. Motivated by a turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six mill that is teamed with a 48-volt hybrid system, it offers 382 horsepower. This model is now available exclusively with all-wheel drive.
If you like spirited driving, the new M4 coupe is your choice. In its standard configuration, it is powered by a 3.0-liter twin-turbo inline-six mill. In a standard configuration, it is capable of making 473 horsepower which is transferred to the rear wheels via a six-speed manual. If that’s not enough for you, you can step up to the Competition version with a 503 HP engine mated to a XF-sourced eight-speed automatic. The automaker says it will be offered with all-wheel drive later on.
All M4s are equipped with adaptive dampers and have adjustable brake-pedal feel. What’s more, this model sports an electronically controlled exhaust system which gets louder when the car switches to Sport or Sport Plus mode. The driver can make it quieter by pushing the M Sound button at any moment they want. The regular model has a staggered set of 18-inch front and 19-inch rear wheels. The Competition version has 19-inch front and 20-inch rear wheels. Whatever the model, it can be had with carbon-ceramic brakes for maximum stopping power. They also got a carbon-fiber roof for a lower center of gravity. Both models got a bunch of styling tweaks including a larger kidney grille.
The BMW 4 Series convertible also got a number of improvements for this year. Probably the biggest 2021 change is the switch from a retractable hardtop to a soft top in black or Starlight black. That brought a number of advantages. For instance, the new soft top is much lighter and compact compared to the previously offered hardtop, which results in a lower overall weight and a larger trunk. Raising and lowering the top takes 18 seconds at speeds up to 31 mph. On the mechanical side of things, convertible versions are available with the same powertrains as their coupe siblings. The only difference is that they are available with all-wheel drive.
