The second-generation Audi Q7 SUV received two PHEV models along with a more stately look and plenty of new features as part of its mid-cycle refresh. With all redesigned exterior parts and many new 2020 Audi Q7 accessories inside the cabin, the newcomer looks more in line with the automaker’s current design language. First things first, the largest three-row Audi SUV is longer by 0.4 inch than the previous version. As far as styling is concerned, the Q7 received numerous changes inside and out that didn’t give it any dramatic transformations yet still made it look noticeably different. Among the exterior revisions to this year’s model are redesigned front and rear fascias, new headlights, and reshaped taillights. As a result of those changes, the vehicle looks more rugged compared to its predecessor.
The interior changes are more dramatic compared to the exterior ones. Although the dash retains full-width air vents that visually widen it, it looks now more streamlined. Just like other current Audi vehicles, this seven-seat SUV adopts the latest version of the automaker’s dual-touchscreen MMI setup instead of the previously offered central knob controller. While the lower screen allows the driver to manipulate the climate control, the upper one handles infotainment functions including navigation and audio. The SUV also offers Amazon Alexa, Car-to-X communication, and a bunch of safety functions. In addition to new tech, the interior got a number of new accessories like piano black trim throughout the cabin and many 2020 Audi Q7 parts revised to give it a fresher look.
Along with a bunch of styling changes, the vehicle got a new 3.0-liter V6 engine fed by a turbocharger. It is capable of delivering 335 horsepower sent to all four wheels through an eight-speed automatic. The previously available supercharged V6 was dropped this year. Drivers who don’t need V6 power can opt for the entry-level luxury SUV with a 2.0-liter inline-four under its hood. This mill is also equipped with a turbocharger and mated to the aforementioned automatic transmission. However, it generates only 248 horsepower that is actually quite enough to easily reach highway speeds.
The models bound for the American market are purely internal combustion powered. The Audi Q7 with a plug-in hybrid powertrain isn’t available here. It is dubbed the TFSI e Quattro and offered in two power levels: the 60 TFSIe version offers 450 HP, while the 55 TFSIe provides 375 HP. The hybrid powertrain in question consists of a turbocharged 3.0-liter gasoline mill and an electric motor capable of generating 126 HP. It is powered by a 17.3-kWh battery pack. The all-electric driving range of the TFSI e Quattro is claimed to be 27 miles.
Things get even more interesting with the 2020 Audi SQ7 powered by a 4.0-liter TFSI engine. This mill is capable of providing 500 horsepower that is a few more ponies than the mild-hybrid turbo diesel found in the European-spec model. The new V8 is mated to an eight-speed automatic. With such a powertrain, a zero-to-60-mph sprint takes 4.3 seconds. If anything, the vehicle can be had with a Sport Quattro Differential for an even better driving experience. It also got a number of cosmetic changes including a redesigned bumper and lights. Besides, more color choices have been added to its color palette.
