J.W. Performance Transmission Components

J. W. Performance is a preeminent manufacturer of transmissions and their components for circle track, drag, and off-road racers, as well as street and strip enthusiasts. Since its inception in 1976, J. W. Performance has strictly followed its goal to offer the finest-quality products. Driven by such values, the company has managed to create product innovations such as “The Wheel”, “Ultra-Bell”, and the “Ultra-Case.” Its extensive product line runs the gamut from superior valve bodies, bellhousings, and flexplates to crankshaft adapter sleeves, billet pistons, and servo covers.

The founder of the company, John Winters Sr., has been very passionate about vehicles, especially about race cars, since his childhood. And when he launched his own company specializing in repairing automatic transmissions, John Winters Sr. started to strongly promote his products to racers of the Southeastern United States. John Winters Sr. also campaigned a drag racing ride at NHRA National and Divisional events. His constant strive to push J. W. Performance forward through designing and testing new products led to the success and quick expanding of the company in the 1980’s.

During 1983 the company built a 10,000 square foot facility in Rockledge, Florida. In 6 years, the company felt the need for further expansion and additional 10,000 square feet were added to its facility. Later, J.W. Performance Transmissions has enlarged its territory to 20,000 square feet. Today the company possesses a 40,000 square foot facility and is operated by the second generation of John Winters Sr.’s family, which follows the same goals as its predecessors. Standing at the head of the company, John, Jr. and Tracy, have a clear vision of its future development. John, Jr. manages the transmission and valve body departments, while Tracy holds the position of the Vice-President of Sales/Marketing and business development.

As the automotive industry moves fast, so does J.W. Performance. To keep abreast of the latest market trends, John, Jr., who is an avid bracket racer, offers a detailed insight for new parts, while Tracy is involved in D.R.A.W., an organization that helps racers. She also serves on the SEMA MPMC Council and sits on the board of Trustees. Tracy is actively involved in the industry, paying special attention to its preservation and development. During the past 10 years J.W. Performance has stood at the forefront of the modern automotive market by introducing new and advanced product designs created by seasoned engineers and technicians.
