The 2022 redesign brought two new variants to the Explorer’s lineup and a minor shuffling of standard and optional features. Other than that, the Ford Explorer is virtually unchanged. This is hardly surprising as the vehicle got a complete redesign in 2020. The SUV still looks and feels fresh and remains one of the best sell-selling Ford vehicles. Just like before, the Explorer is available in a number of configurations to meet the varying needs of drivers. In other words, it has something for everyone. To wit, with a spacious interior, lots of safety features, and good fuel economy, it can be a solid choice for families. There is also an off-road-oriented model for those drivers who frequent uneven terrains. It can be further customized with 2022 Ford Explorer accessories and parts from the aftermarket to take on the roads less traveled with more confidence.
Those drivers who are seeking a performance SUV will certainly appreciate the ST lineup. This year’s model comes with a rear-wheel-drive setup by default. All-wheel drive is available as an option for those drivers who need it. Whatever the drivetrain configuration, the ST is powered by a twin-turbo 3.0-liter V6 engine that makes 400 horsepower and is mated to a ten-speed automatic. This hefty mill is newly standard in the Platinum and King Ranch trims. The above-mentioned versions now also come standard with a Technology Package. That suite brings a 10.1-inch touchscreen along with a B&O sound system with 14 speakers.
The Explorer ST differentiates itself from others in the line with a number of uniquely designed parts and accessories inside and out. For instance, it comes with a black grille, fascia-integrated dual exhaust tips, specially designed badging, etc. Those drivers who want an SUV with such a performance-inspired appearance but don’t need the full power and capability of the ST will be better off with the newly available ST-Line. Although it looks identical to the performance model on the outside, it is powered by a 2.3-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine that makes 300 horsepower.
The Limited and Platinum models are also available with a hybrid powertrain which includes a 3.3-liter V6 engine teamed with an electric motor for a total power output of 318 horsepower. Whatever Explorer variant you go with, it can be further customized to meet your personal needs even better. As an example, you can upgrade it with aftermarket nerf bars or running boards to make it easier to enter and exit your SUV. It is an especially valuable upgrade for those using the Explorer as a family hauler. Installing a roof rack system on your vehicle will give you extra storage space to transport more cargo or bulky items. All the above-mentioned accessories along with other 2022 Ford Explorer parts and accessories are readily available in a huge variety on our digital shelves.
