The Cadillac CT6 was considerably refreshed for the 2019 model year. The vehicle still offers an outstanding combination of superior dynamics and handling, notable space, and a reasonable price for its segment, now complemented by a new, more attractive look. The new model comes with a larger grille with a floating pinhead pattern emphasized by a valance placed at the bottom of the bumper. The headlights were made sleeker and are further stretched out on the nose. The CT6 also features 5 vertically oriented LED accent lights below the headlights. The design of both the headlights and grille largely resembles that of the Escala concept unveiled in 2016. The rear end received only minor updates, including refreshed tail lights, also reflecting the Escala design. The overall profile of the Cadillac CT6 remained essentially unchanged.
Inside, the 2019 Cadillac CT6 offers just a few updates, such as the newer version of the corporate infotainment system and updated self-driving system named Super Cruise. The latter can drive the car on certain highways with limited access using GPS, real-time sensors and cameras and LiDAR map info. The system is capable of handling steering, acceleration and braking, though it requires regular driver monitoring. You don’t need to hold the steering wheel, but if the system detects absence of interaction for a long time, it will send alerts and can even stop the car if you don’t turn your attention back to the road. The new 2019 Cadillac CT6 V-Sport, now renamed the CT6-V, comes with an upgraded Cadillac User Experience infotainment system featuring a 10-inch Full HD display, improved voice recognition, and 4G LTE module. Apart from the semi-autonomous driving feature, the model offers a range of driver assistance systems, such as Safety Alert Seat, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Forward Collision Alert, Forward/Reverse Automatic Braking, and Lane Keep Assist with Lane Departure Warning.
The engine lineup of the 2019 Cadillac CT6 underwent some changes as well. A 2.0 L turbo I4 was dropped, so now the base engine is a naturally aspirated 3.6 L V6 good for 335 hp. The new model is not only more potent, but also more capable, as now it comes with AWD as standard. Yet, torque rating of the entry-level variant is slightly decreased – from 295 to 284 lb.-ft. A 3.0 L twin-turbo V6 capable of generating 404 hp is offered optionally. The Plug-In Hybrid model is available as well, equipped with a 2.0 L turbo I4, a pair of electric motors and 18.4-kWh li-ion battery. The system develops 335 hp in total. It’s the only model in the lineup to feature the RWD layout instead of AWD. For 2019 model year, Cadillac offers the facelifted CT6-V version equipped with all-new 4.2 L V8 engine capable of producing 550 hp and incredible 627 lb.-ft. of torque. The powerplant is mated to a 10L90 Hydra-Matic 10-speed automatic transmission. The AWD Cadillac CT6-V features an active rear steering, rear-biased torque split, limited-slip differential, exclusive performance summer tires, and 19-inch four-piston Brembo brakes.
