The production of the current Beetle is expected to be ceased in mid-2019, most likely without a direct replacement. To mark the end of the era, the German automaker has introduced a special version of the model named the Final Edition. Offered as both convertible and hatchback, the car offers two specific color options. The same colors were available in Mexico in 2003 for the final editions of the original Beetle. Out back, the model also comes with a Beetle badge instead of the Turbo logo, while some convertible variants feature a brown top. The Final Edition is available in two grades, being SE and SEL. The entry-level version rides on 17” multispoke wheels, while the SEL comes with retro-styled 18” ones featuring white accents. Both trims come with specific upholstery – the SE offers cloth and leatherette seats, while the SEL received leather ones. Besides, Final Edition variants are a bit more affordable compared to the equivalent grades of the regular version. Otherwise, newly unveiled models are similar to other members of the lineup.

All versions of the 2019 Volkswagen Beetle employ the same powertrain that consists of a 2.0 L turbo I4 delivering 174 hp and a 6-speed automatic. Fuel economy is good, topping out at 33 mpg. Rear traffic alert along with blind spot monitoring are standard safety features for the car. Inside, it is quite roomy – its total interior room is rated at 85 cu. ft., while the trunk offers 15.4 cu. ft. of cargo room. If you fold the rear seats down, you get the double capacity of up to 29.9 cu. ft. All variants of the model feature body-colored door handles, side sills, side mirrors incorporating turn signals, and integrated rear spoiler. The SE grade and above also come with heated washer nozzles and lower window chrome trim. In the base configuration, the 2019 Volkswagen Beetle rides on 16” wheels, while most models come with 17” ones, both made from aluminum alloy. 18” wheels are offered as part of the Premium Package and are standard on the Final Edition SEL.
