For the 2018 model year, the Lexus RC offers a number of updates. The models fitted with a V6 engine are now a bit more potent thanks to a 5-hp increase over the previous version. The 200t model was renamed the 300t. A 10.3” navigation display became available for all variants of the 2018 Lexus RC. The corporate suite of active safety features named Lexus Safety System+ is standard now and includes adaptive cruise control, automated emergency braking, and other features. The luxury coupe by Lexus offers three engine options, with a 2.0 L turbo I4 that delivers 241 hp as the base one. This engine uses an intercooler and direct injection and is mated to an 8-speed automatic. The 2018 Lexus RC can be fitted with a more robust 3.5 L V6 engine with different power outputs depending on the configuration. The RC 300 AWD variant now uses a 260-hp version, while the RC 350 employs a 311-hp variant. RWD models come with an 8-speed automatic and AWD ones use a 6-speed automatic.
The Lexus RC is constructed on its own platform that provides high rigidity thanks to special body adhesives and laser screw welding. It also borrows some key parts from the IS and GS by Lexus. For instance, both front and rear suspension setups of the RC are borrowed from the GS architecture. Thanks to all these construction features, the model poises through curves and delivers crisp turn-in. The electric power steering system features rigid mounting hardware, enabling the new RC to deliver a firm feel and excellent feedback. The 2018 Lexus RC employs the corporate Vehicle Dynamic Integrated Management system that coordinates the control of essential systems, such as steering, powertrain, stability control, ABS, and traction control.
The 2018 RC comes with 8 airbags and Lexus Safety System+. The latter includes cruise control, pre-collision system, intelligent high beam, and others to ensure a high level of safety. Blind spot monitor is optional. It can help when you change lanes, as the system provides information about the vehicles in blind spot zones and the ones that approach from the rear in adjacent lanes. Rear cross-traffic alert is also included in this option.
To mark 10th anniversary of the F performance department, Lexus dressed up its 2018 RC F coupe and GS F sedan models in matte gray and blue. Only 240 units of the limited-edition RC F are available, while the F-badged sedan further limits this amount to 100 vehicles. There are no changes performance-wise, yet both cars get a striking visual upgrade. The pair boasts a Nebula Gray matte body paint, glossy black wheels with blue calipers peering through, and special badges. Inside, there is an abundance of blue highlights. The RC F features blue leather upholstery on the front seats. The steering wheel, shift knob, headliner, and the hood above the instruments are all wrapped in blue. The RC F Sport Black Line edition appeared ahead of the auto show in New York. It dresses up RC 300 and RC 350 models inside and out. In line with the name, there are plenty of black-painted accessories, including grille trim, window moldings, rims, and calipers. The exterior paint, however, offers a silver shade along with a gloss black one. In tone with optional orange calipers, the interior is available with orange seats. A steering wheel with dark wood trim is a unique feature of limited edition models. Only 650 units are available for purchase.
